Interesting Case: A Faulty Coolant Sensor and a Homemade Fuel Pump on a Thermo King SLXe200

Diagnostics: Why the Thermo King SLXe200 Failed to Start

Initial inspection showed that the system was blocking the start.
After a series of tests, we discovered the actual cause of the malfunction — a failed coolant sensor.

This sensor plays an important role in engine protection: if it gives an incorrect signal, the unit automatically blocks the start, preventing possible overheating or emergency operation.

But that wasn't all…

When we continued diagnostics and began inspecting the fuel system, we encountered a very unusual finding inside the unit.

We discovered a homemade low-pressure fuel pump assembly created by local tinkerers.
This engineering solution looked atypical, non-standard, and, to put it mildly, did not meet Thermo King technical requirements.

Such modifications can lead to irregular fuel supply, unstable engine operation, and subsequent starting failures.

Why this is dangerous

Amateur modifications of the fuel system can cause:

• uneven fuel supply,
• increased engine load,
• overheating of components,
• electronic malfunctions,
• premature failure of key components.

Homemade constructions in a refrigerator are a temporary and unsafe solution, which almost always leads to more serious breakdowns.

How We Fixed the Problem
