How to Change the Setpoint Temperature and Avoid the Main Mistake
The main screen of the Thermoguard VI controller always displays two numbers: the top row is the actual current temperature inside the trailer, and the bottom row is the Setpoint temperature that the unit must maintain. The main mistake beginners make is simply pressing the arrow keys and forgetting to save the data.
The correct algorithm for changing the temperature:
- Step 1: Open the protective cover of the controller.
- Step 2: Press the Select service button, and then use the arrow buttons (up or down) to set the required degree.
- Step 3: YOU MUST press the Enter button! If you do not do this, the controller will not save the new temperature and will revert to the old settings. The top and bottom rows should flash zeros for a second — this means the data has been successfully saved.
Automatic Mode (Cycle Sentry) or Continuous Run?
In addition to the temperature, it is important to choose the correct operating mode of the unit. This directly affects diesel fuel consumption and cargo safety (some goods, such as fresh berries, require continuous airflow).
To switch the mode, open the controller cover again and find the toggle switch labeled Cycle Sentry. If you switch it to the ON position, the words CYCLE SENTRY will light up on the screen. This means the reefer has entered automatic mode (start-stop): it will reach the required temperature and shut down, saving fuel, and when the temperature drops, it will start again. If you move the switch to the OFF position, the unit will run continuously.
Additional features of the Select button: By pressing this button multiple times, the controller displays important system parameters: engine RPM, coolant temperature, and current battery charge. This is a great way to monitor the equipment's status right on the road!
